Some sad news to report today, 95-year-old comic-book legend Stan Lee has passed away. The writer/editor/publisher of Marvel Comics had been battling several health issues the past year or two.
He’s had issues with his vision and pneumonia over the last year. According to the reports, an ambulance rushed to his Hollywood Hills home early Monday morning, but there wasn’t much they could do for him.
Stan started Marvel back in 1961 with Jack Kirby. He created (or co-created) Black Panther, Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, Ant-Man, Iron Man and several other popular comic-book characters. As we said, the dude was a legend.
He was also known for making cameo appearances in all the Marvel films. You can check out the video below to see his cameos.
Lee is survived by his daughter, J.C. His wife passed away back in 2017. They were together for 69 years.
In a statement, Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger had this to say about Lee…
“Stan Lee was as extraordinary as the characters he created. A superhero in his own right to Marvel fans around the world, Stan had the power to inspire, to entertain and to connect. The scale of his imagination was only exceeded by the size of his heart.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family. Thanks for all the entertainment, Lee.
