Woody Allen’s last film, A Rainy Day in New York, was shelved by Amazon after the “renewed attention” surrounding the allegations that he sexually assaulted his daughter. Amazon also didn’t like Allen’s controversial comments on the #MeToo movement.
For hist part, Allen denies the allegations and has filed a $68 million lawsuit against Amazon, accusing the studio of breach of contract.
As Allen’s lawyers battle Amazon Studios in court, Allen is prepared to start work on his next movie, which is expected to start filming this summer in Spain.
According to production studio Mediapro, the untitled film, which was first announced in February, will be a ‘comedy-romance,’ following a married American couple who attend the San Sebastian film festival only to fall in love with different people. Filming is set to begin July 10 in Spain.
MediaPro Studios is standing behind Allen. They released a statement talking about how proud they are to have worked with him for 14 years…
This latest movie has all the ingredients to be right up there along with what we’ve become accustomed to from a director of Woody Allen’s talent: an intelligent script and a first-rate international cast.
I don’t know, man. He might be a talented filmmaker, but the allegations against him are too much to ignore. I highly doubt this movie will perform well. It probably won’t even be released inside theaters, at least not in the U.S.
Christoph Waltz and Riverdale’s Gina Gershon are set to star in this film. Not a good look for their career.[mashshare]
