Disney is all about that live-action life. You already know all about the success Disney has had lately with the live-action Maleficent and Cinderella. Both films made a ridiculous amount of money at the box office. $750 million and $530 million, respectively.
And when something makes money in Hollywood, they will ride that train all the way to Cha-Ching town. They have already announced several upcoming live-action reboots — including, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Winnie the Pooh, and The Jungle Book.
You can now add one more to the list, thanks to the surprise announcement yesterday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has secured a deal for a live-action film focusing on the Prince Charming character. Matt Fogel wrote the script, which is described as a “revisionist take on the fairy tales.”
Not much else is known about the project. There are so many different directions this film could go. I mean, who is the true Prince Charming? There have been several “Prince Charming” characters, so will this film focus on just one? Or will there be multiple stories going on?
Hopefully we learn more about this project soon. In the meantime, the studio is currently in production on the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast starring the wonderful Emma Watson. It’s scheduled for a March 17, 2017 release.
