Pixar’s ‘Onward’ Has Been Released On Digital, Just A Few Weeks After Hitting Theaters

Pixar’s latest film ‘Onward‘ featuring the voices of Chris Pratt and Tom Holland released inside theaters on March 6. It was terrible timing, as the coronavirus news was starting to ramp up.

It opened to just $40 million during its opening weekend, which was a little disappointing. It was the lowest opening for Pixar since the 2015 film Good Dinosaur.

And now that no one is going to the movies, Disney/Pixar is hoping to make some money back through digital streaming. They released the film on digital today, March 20.

Onward is listed as being available for digital purchase starting March 20 at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST on XBox, the Playstation Store, and the Microsoft Store, with FandangoNow and Vudu listing the Pixar film as being up for pre-order to watch soon. The film will be available for purchase for $19.99.

And if you have Disney+, you can hold off on the $20 purchase, ’cause it’ll be available to stream on April 3.

While we’re looking forward to audiences enjoying our films on the big screen again soon, given the current circumstances, we are pleased to release this fun, adventurous film to digital platforms early for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes.

Onward received mostly positive reviews from critics. It should be a nice way to keep your family entertained for a few hours.
