Pixar is set to release ‘Soul‘ in November 2020. The film was originally set to hit theaters in June, but due to the pandemic, it was pushed back several months.
And while the world waits for the release of Soul, Pixar is already teasing their next project, Luca.
The coming-of-age adventure film will be set in Italy, and it’s expected to hit theaters June 18, 2021. The studio decided to release information about the film after news leaked online that the company filed a trademark application for the title.
Enrico Casarosa is directing the film, and he released the following statement:
This is a deeply personal story for me, not only because it’s set on the Italian Riviera where I grew up, but because at the core of this film is a celebration of friendship. Childhood friendships often set the course of who we want to become and it is those bonds that are at the heart of our story in ‘Luca,’
So in addition to the beauty and charm of the Italian seaside, our film will feature an unforgettable summer adventure that will fundamentally change Luca.
Sounds like a neat project. Let’s just hope this virus retreats a bit so movie theaters can finally reopen. If the surge continues, it’s possible ‘Soul’ is pushed out of its November slot.
If that’s the case, it might take over Luca’s release date, and then Luca would be released in late 2021 or 2022.
