Paul Thomas Anderson, or PTA for all you cool kids out there, is one of the most talented filmmakers alive. He’s responsible for films like Phantom Thread, Punch-Drunk Love, Boogie Nights, and The Master.
According to multiple reports, Anderson’s next film will be a high school movie set in the 1970s.
The untitled film will be centered on a high school student who is also a successful child actor. Anderson will write, direct and produce the project.
Sources close to the project say this movie is currently casting and could be “ensemble” in nature with intersecting storylines.
The plan is to start shooting in California in February of 2020. If it all goes according to plan, it’s possible we’re looking at a release date in 2021…late 2020 if they’re really pushing it?
We’ll keep you posted. Anderson’s last film, Phantom Thread, was nominated for six Oscars.
