Were you a fan of the 2016 hit movie Moonlight? Of course you were. There is no way you answered no to that question. Mahershala Ali co-starred in the film and his performance won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
Now he’s moving to a leading role in the based-on-a-true story drama Green Book. The movie, directed by Peter Farrelly, follows black pianist Don Shirley and the “bouncer-turned-chauffeur Tony Vallelonga, aka Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen), embarking on a tour through the Deep South in 1962.”
This movie will premiere at TIFF 2018 and has the potential to win some awards. It’ll be interesting to see Farrelly take on a legit drama. As you know, he’s known for his work in the comedy world, directing movies like Dumb and Dumber, Hall Pass, Shallow Hal and There’s Something About Mary.
In addition to Ali and Mortensen, this movie also stars the hilarious Sebastian Maniscalco and Linda Cardellini. It’ll hit theaters November 21, 2018.
