It’s Official: Alec Baldwin Is Joining Todd Phillips’ ‘Joker’ Film

Alec Baldwin is probably celebrating today after landing a supporting role in Todd Phillips’ upcoming Joker film, which will feature Joaquin Phoenix playing the title role.

Warner Bros. has not confirmed who Baldwin will be playing, but it’s believed he will play Thomas Wayne, who is Bruce Wayne/Batman’s father. In the comics, Thomas and his wife are murdered exiting the theater. A young Bruce witnesses the murder and becomes the vigilante we all know and love today.

“In the early comics, Wayne’s murderer is mugger/hitman Joe Chill, but starting with the first Tim Burton 1989 Batman movie, it’s the Joker who is the culprit.”

In addition to Baldwin and Phoenix, the movie will also star Robert De Niro, Marc Maron, Frances Conroy and the lovely Zazie Beetz.

Production is set to start September 10. It’s scheduled to be released October 4, 2019. We will keep you posted throughout production. Hopefully we get some photos from set.
