Netflix Releases Trailer For The Russian Sports Doping Documentary ‘Icarus’

Netflix has been killing it with the documentaries lately, and their latest one will most likely continue the murderous rampage. Filmmaker Bryan Fogel has teamed up with the streaming giant to create a documentary about the Russian doping scandal.

Icarus chronicles Fogel’s investigation into the dark world of sports doping.

“Fogel’s source is the former head of Russia’s anti-doping lab, who details the state-sponsored Olympic doping scheme that happened just before the summer 2016 Rio Olympics. What starts out as an experiment — Fogel tries out performance-enhancing drugs — unspools into a thriller.”

The film won the Sundance Film Festival’s inaugural Orwell Award this year. Netflix paid $5 million for the documentary. It will be released in select theaters and launch globally on Netflix August 4, 2017.

We are excited for this one.
