NBA Star Kyrie Irving is going Hollywood again. He recently starred in the comedy ‘Uncle Drew‘ and now he’s set to star in (and produce) an untitled horror film with Imagine Entertainment, which was founded by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.
The film is reportedly going to be set around the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City.
“The hotel is frequented by traveling NBA teams, but some players refuse to stay there because of its reputation. The hotel was opened in 1911 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hauntings are believed to have started in the 1930s when the hotel’s owner had an affair with a chambermaid which led to her tragic demise.”
Apparently, Irving has had his own “interesting” experiences at the hotel, so he connected with this idea immediately. Irving played a bit of a goofy character in Uncle Drew, so it’ll be interesting to see how he does in a more serious role.
I mean, I doubt this is going to be a super serious horror flick, but still…it’ll have to be more grounded than Uncle Drew to be taken seriously.
No word on a release date or filming schedule, but it’ll likely be in the summer after basketball season is over.[mashshare]
