Natalie Portman stars in the film, and as you can see in the trailer below, she has made the complete transformation. Her portrayal of the late first lady is ridiculously convincing. It’s just one trailer, but it looks like she’s going to pull off the role with ease.
The trailer is light on dialogue, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s an effective TEASER trailer. It offers several flashbacks to the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Portman is seen washing off her husband’s blood that splattered on her during the shooting and kissing his flag-draped coffin.
It’s an emotional trailer. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival. The early reviews from critics have been overwhelmingly positive. It currently sits at a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Out of 22 reviews, only one has been negative.
Jackie will be released inside select theaters December 2. Check out the official synopsis and trailer below.
“JACKIE is a searing and intimate portrait of one of the most important and tragic moments in American history, seen through the eyes of the iconic First Lady, then Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Natalie Portman). JACKIE places us in her world during the days immediately following her husband’s assassination. Known for her extraordinary dignity and poise, here we see a psychological portrait of the First Lady as she struggles to maintain her husband’s legacy and the world of “Camelot” that they created and loved so well.”
