Kurt Russell Might Be Playing Star-Lord’s Father In ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’

Chris Pratt, your father has been selected…maybe. According to a report from The Wrap, Kurt Russell is James Gunn’s favorite to play Star-Lord’s father in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

This would obviously be wonderful news (who doesn’t like Kurt Russell?) but don’t get too excited just yet. Marvel has not officially offered him the role. In fact, it doesn’t even appear that Russell has read the script; however, meetings have been scheduled between the studio and the actor.

If this report is true, we should be hearing some official announcements soon. Principal photography will start in Atlanta on the sequel in just a few weeks. An interesting connection here is that Vin Diesel (Groot) just finished working with Russell in Furious 7. It wouldn’t surprise me if Diesel put in a good word for the actor. Diesel has a long history of taking great care of his friends in the business. When he finds someone or something he likes, he tends to stick with it, as demonstrated by the announcement of at least three more Fast & Furious films.

As always ,we’ll keep you posted. Let us know if you think Russell would be a good choice for the role. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit theaters May 5, 2017.
