Kumail Nanjiani, perhaps best known for the 2017 film The Big Sick, has been landing role after role in Hollywood since the success of the movie, and his latest project sounds super interesting.
He will star in the film adaptation of Simon Rich’s short story titled ‘Any Person, Living or Dead,’ and the plot sounds delicious.
[The story] follows a brilliant reclusive scientist who, using his homemade time machine, gathers a roundtable of the greatest minds in history (Shakespeare, George Washington, Aristotle, etc.) to solve all of humanity’s problems. Unfortunately, his plan fails to take into account language barriers, ancient racism and the tendency of medieval men to commit murder. Instead of learning from these Great Men of History, our hero has no choice but to hunt them down and blast them to the past before they can ruin our future.
I mean, come on…that sounds f**king incredible. Obviously it’s all up to the writers to turn this short story into a great feature length film, but they certainly have a great starting point.
No word on a potential release date, but we will follow this project closely and keep you posted. In the meantime, you can hear Nanjiani’s voice in the upcoming Men in Black: International film, which is set to be released June 14, 2019.
