Katie Holmes will be keeping herself busy in Hollywood, thanks to STXfilms and Lakeshore Entertainment.
The 39-year-old actress has landed the lead role in the upcoming horror sequel ‘The Boy 2.’ The original film was released back in 2016, and even though it did not perform well with critics, it did make a respectable $68 million at the box office worldwide.
“The story will revolve around a young family, unaware of the terrifying history of the estate into which they move, where their young son soon makes an unsettling new friend, an eerily life-like doll he calls Brahms.”
The creative team behind the first film will be returning, including director William Brent Bell and screenwriter Stacey Menear.
It’s a bit surprising to see a sequel being made, considering the film didn’t do THAT well at the box office, but when you’re working with a budget of around $10 million, even a $68 million box office total is enough to warrant a sequel.
No word on a release date, but we will keep you posted. In the meantime, you can catch Holmes in the upcoming musical drama, Coda.
