The best-selling self-help book, The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne is becoming a movie. You had to know this was coming, folks.
Andy Tennant will direct the movie. He’s the man behind the lovable romantic comedies, Hitch and Sweet Home Alabama. This adaptation of The Secret will follow a young widow with three children who hires a handyman to fix her house during a terrible storm.
“As the handyman grows closer to the family, he shares his philosophy of believing in the power of the universe to deliver what we want, but the widow soon realizes he carries a secret connection to her past.”
A writer from This Is Us wrote the screenplay, so you know this movie is going to be cheesy as hell. It’s going to make your mother cry. I promise you. I’d bet $10 million on it.
Katie Holmes will star in the movie, but that’s the only casting information we have. We also don’t have a release date or a timeline for production.
Author Rhonda Byrne released a statement announcing how excited she is:
“I am so excited that the film version of The Secret is finally here. This movie will not only be a great thrill for The Secret fans across the planet, it’s also certain to ripple out and touch millions more people. The Secret book was life-changing for so many, and this movie continues that legacy within a stunning piece of entertainment.”
By the way, The Secret has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, so the audience is certainly there.
