You’ve heard of Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan, but have you heard of Francis Lee? He’s the filmmaker behind the 2017 gay drama love story, God’s Own Country. The film didn’t get as much attention as Call Me By Your Name, but some critics believe it’s the superior movie.
In any event, it put Lee on the map and now he’s ready to tackle another gay drama. According to reports, he will be directing and writing the screenplay for Ammonite.
“Set in a UK coastal town in the 1840s, ‘Ammonite’ will follow the unlikely romance between paleontologist Mary Anning and a London woman of means to whom she must unexpectedly play nursemaid.”
Kate Winset and Saoirse Ronan are expected to star in the movie. Production is set to begin in March of 2019, which means the movie will likely be released in 2020. It will be one to watch out for.
