‘Jumanji: The Next Level‘ is being released inside theaters across the country this weekend. It opened Thursday night in most locations and made a cool 4.7 million.
The sequel to ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ is expected to have a solid opening weekend. The studio predicts a $35 million opening, which would be on track with the original film’s $36 million opening back in 2017.
Other experts though, not associated with the studio, are thinking this sequel could make as much as $45 million this weekend.
The film is receiving mixed reviews from critics. It currently has a 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. It has an audience score of 89%, but only 300 users have been counted.
Welcome to the Jungle had a long run at the box office and ended up making nearly $1 billion worldwide.
I think it’s unlikely this sequel performs as well. It doesn’t look like it’ll have as much staying power. The original film kinda grew as time went on, thanks to positive word of mouth. Don’t think this sequel will have the same success, even if it outperforms during its opening weekend.[mashshare]
