Jordan Peele’s Horror Film ‘Get Out’ Makes Surprise Midnight Debut At Sundance, And The Critics Are Loving It!

When Jordan Peele first announced he was making a horror film, everyone paused and was like, “But wait, you do comedy.” As you all know, Peele is best known for being the co-creator of the sketch comedy show Key & Peele.

But comedy isn’t the only thing he’s passionate about. He’s a HUGE horror fan, and it’s been his dream since he was little to make a legit horror movie. He was finally able to live his dream last year. He wrote and directed ‘Get Out,’ which is described as a racially charged horror film. You can watch the trailer for the movie at the top of this page.

It’s scheduled to be released on Feb 24, but a few lucky critics got to watch the movie last night at Sundance. Get Out made a surprise midnight debut at the festival, and it’s safe to say it was a huge hit.

The entertainment editor for Thrillist went on his Twitter account after watching the movie and wrote that Peele managed to do the almost impossible: create a brilliant horror script.

Popular horror site Bloody Disgusting gave the film a near perfect review. They gave it a 4.5 /5 and had this to say in their review

“Musical stings totally work too. Peele has a grasp on all the tropes of horror and uses them in fun ways. Without giving away the ultimate endgame, it’s safe to say Get Out mashes up subgenres like cult, mad scientist and no escape horror.”

We can’t wait to check out this movie next month.
