You know John Oliver as the host of the wonderful (and informative) HBO show Last Week Tonight. And if you have kids, you might also recognize his voice as Vanity Smurf in Sony’s The Smurfs and Smurfs 2.

Well, Mr. Oliver will be getting more voice work. According to multiple reports, Oliver will play Zazu in the upcoming live-action Lion King film, which is being directed by Jon Favreau. As most of you should know, Favreau directed the live-action Jungle Book movie. He’s also set to direct its sequel.

Oliver will be joining an impressive cast, which includes Donald Glover (Simba), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), and Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa.

The film is set to be released July 19, 2019, and it’s going to be a hit. I’m honestly more excited for this than I should be. I’m not typically a fan of remakes, ’cause it shows a lack of originality, but Favreau’s vision with The Jungle Book was mesmerizing.

If they can capture that same magic with this movie, then I’ll fully support it.
