Jennifer Lopez, Netflix, and filmmaker Brad Peyton are joining forces to create a huge sci-fi thriller film titled Atlas.
And according to the premise, Lopez is humanity’s last hope.
Atlas unfolds in a bleak-sounding future where an AI soldier has determined the only way to end war is to end humanity. Obviously, this extremist approach to achieving a pacifist paradise doesn’t go down so well with Lopez, who finds herself teaming up with the one thing she fears most — another AI.
Gotta admit, that sounds a little confusing to me, but I think I’m here for it? I mean, maybe. Like, I definitely have a foot in the door.
Peyton was the director behind Rampage and San Andreas, so we know he can do end of the world action well.
He recently talked about partnering up with Lopez:
Having the chance to direct Jennifer in the title role of this movie is a dream come true, as I know she’ll bring the incredible strength, depth and authenticity we’ve all come to admire from her work.
This film will be the latest project to come out of Lopez’s first-look deal with Netflix.
No word on when filming is expected to begin, but we’ll keep you posted as more information comes out.
Lopez has two other movies she’s currently in development on as well. And you know, she’s having to find time to deepen her romance with Ben Affleck.
