Well, you knew it was coming. Hollywood is developing a live-action movie based on the ridiculously popular Minecraft video game franchise.
It’s the best-selling game of all time with more than 238 million copies sold since its release in 2011. Hollywood wants a piece of that pie, and they’re reportedly recruiting Jason Momoa to help them do it.
The ‘Dune‘ actor is currently deep in talks to join the adaptation. Nothing has been signed, so it’s not official, but Warner Bros. wants him to lead the project.
Minecraft is a first-person survival game developed and published by Mojang Studios that spans multiple platforms. The first installment in the franchise debuted in November 2011, with the latest, Minecraft Dungeons, being unveiled in May 2020.
We don’t know much about this movie’s plot. Insiders aren’t giving out much information, but we do know Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) is set to direct a script from Chris Bowman and Hubbell Palmer.
In the meantime, you can catch Momoa in the upcoming Aquaman film, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, on March 17, 2023.
