Jason Momoa And Dave Bautista’s Buddy Cop Movie Is Being Developed With MGM

MGM is about to close a deal for an untitled buddy comedy action pitch, which will star Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista. Apparently, there was a bidding war and MGM has come out on top.

The two stars pitched the movie all over town this past week and apparently impressed a lot of people.

The film came from an original idea from Momoa, Bautista and Tropper. The studio will develop it, but the principals have made rich deals that kick in when the picture goes into production. Jeff Fierson is producing.

As mentioned above, Jonathan Tropper wrote the script. He’s perhaps best known for writing the New York Times bestselling novel, This Is Where I Leave You. He also wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation, which starred Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda and Adam Driver.

So what is this buddy action comedy about?

Essentially, the pitch calls for the duo to play brothers in a Lethal Weapon-esque buddy cop comedy likely to shoot in Hawaii.

Bautista got the ball rolling on this film by tweeting out the following back in August…

Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go…Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait.

Damn. Is it really that easy? Because I got some ideas too.
