If you haven’t watched the original Clue (released back in 1985) you need to change that. When it was released, it didn’t get the best of reviews from critics, but it has since become a cult classic. The humor/style was ahead of its time. I don’t think people “got it” back in the ’80s.
But now? It works. The humor holds up extremely well. It’s one of those movies you can watch over and over again. Just a bunch of great actors having fun together.
It was revealed recently that Ryan Reynolds wanted to make a remake of the film. And originally, Jason Bateman was set to direct this remake. You all know how I feel about remakes, but with Reynolds and Bateman on board…maybe there is hope?
Unfortunately, Bateman dropped out back in February, and now James Bobin is apparently in talks to direct.
So why did Bateman pull out? Well it wasn’t because he lost interest in the project, he just lost time. He talked to Collider recently about the decision…
[Clue is] something that we were getting very close to starting, but as it turned out something of that size takes much, much longer to do than what the seasonal hiatus was able to accommodate. It would have pushed back the start of this season too far. So unfortunately I had to step off of that.
But if it’s still around when Ozark is all wrapped up, I’d love to do it.
There you have it, folks. By the way, the latest season of Ozark just dropped on Netflix.
