We hadn’t been getting much development news lately, thanks to the coronavirus, but that changed today.
According to a new report, Jamie Foxx has signed on to direct a faith-based film titled When We Pray, which he also co-wrote.
Hailing from Cinema Libre Studio and Hong Kong-based Fight to Fame Films, When We Pray follows two brothers who become pastors at different churches in the same community. One brother develops his church into a high-tech megachurch, while the other brother follows a humbler path, but soon finds his church in decline and in need of financial help.
Sounds like a solid premise, and hopefully with a talented/big name like Foxx attached, it’ll refrain from being too cheesy. Faith-based films have the tendency to make you roll your eyes.
Production is scheduled to begin before the end of the year, but that’s obviously dependent on this pandemic. You’d like to believe things will be back to “normal” by the end of the year, but who really knows at this point.[mashshare]
