Jake Szymanski Jumps On Board To Direct Buried Treasure Comedy For Studio 8

Filmmaker Jake Szymanski, who previously directed the comedy film Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, has agreed to join an upcoming action-comedy about a buried treasure in the Rocky Mountains.

As you may have heard, some wealthy art dealer announced back in 2010 that he had buried a cache of gold and jewels in the Rocky Mountains. Thousands of people attempted to find the treasure, some even died trying to find it.

It was announced last month that a man, who wishes to remain anonymous, had finally found it.

But this story isn’t about him. This story is about journalist Hudson Morgan’s misadventures.

Morgan, a  journalist turned comedy writer, will write the screenplay roughly based on his own experience in which a group of millennials set out after the treasure after their best friend disappears. That led to shouting matches, natural hazards, close calls with grizzlies, leaving the group with new appreciation for life, friendship and bear spray.

Studio 8 will produce the flick. No word on when production will begin, but considering most of it will presumably be in a remote setting, they could start up pretty soon.
