Robert Downey Jr. has been working hard for several years to get his live-action adaptation of Pinocchio on the big screen, and it finally looks like it’s going to happen. At first, it was the brilliant filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson attached to the project, but according to a new report from The Tracking Board, Ron Howard has now agreed to direct the film.
He will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner Brian Grazer. Robert Downey Jr. will also join the producing team and will take on the important role of Pinocchio’s creator/father, Geppetto.
Details surrounding the plot are hard to find at the moment; however, The Tracking Board reports the story will focus more on Downey’s Geppetto as he sets out on an adventure to find his missing son. It certainly sounds interesting, and it should be fun to watch RDJ take on a new role.
No release date has been announced, but it should be Ron Howard’s next project, so hopefully more details will be coming soon. He just recently finished work on the third installment of The Da Vinci Code franchise, Inferno. It’s scheduled to be released October 14, 2016.[mashshare]
