‘Incredibles 2’ Just Smashed The Thursday Box Office Debut Record For An Animated Film

Earlier this week we told you that ‘Incredibles 2‘ had a chance to break the record for biggest opening weekend for an animated film. ‘Finding Dory‘ currently has the record, making $135 million during its opening weekend in 2016.

Most experts believe Incredibles 2 will make around $130 million this weekend, but some believe it’ll make $140 million, and it looks like that number might be more accurate.

During its Thursday night debut, the Pixar sequel soared to a record-smashing $18.5 million. That is a new record for an animated film. It’s more than double what Finding Dory made during its Thursday preview.

“The preview number for Incredibles 2 was better than Beauty and the Beast ($16.3 million), Spider-Man: Homecoming ($15.4 million), and Thor: Ragnarok ($14.5 million).¬†It nearly matched the $18.6 million¬†preview number for Deadpool 2 last month.”

I think it’s safe to assume Incredibles 2 will smash the $135 million opening weekend set by Finding Dory. It’s not like the numbers are going to drop after Thursday. It has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and great word of mouth going for it.

Hell, I think it pushes $150 million. Check out the trailer below…
