‘Stranger Things’ star Caleb McLaughlin is moving up in the world. It was just announced this week that the 17-year-old actor will star alongside Idris Elba in the upcoming film, Concrete Cowboys.
In addition to Caleb and Idris, Jharrel Jerome and Byron Bowers are also set to co-star.
The film is inspired by the real-life Fletcher Street Stables, a black urban horsemanship community which has existed in Philadelphia for more than 100 years providing a safe haven for the neighborhood.
Caleb will play a 15-year-old boy named Cole who is forced to live with his estranged father, played by Idris Elba. While staying with his father in North Philadelphia, Cole “discovers the city’s vibrant urban cowboy subculture.”
Ricky Staub will be making his feature directorial debut with this movie. He co-wrote the script with Dan Walser.
Filming is happening right now, so it’s very possible this film will be released next year. We’ll keep you posted!
