How Much Will ‘Shazam!’ Make During Its Opening Weekend? Experts Say Just Over $45 Million, BUT WE THINK THEY’RE WRONG!

Last night (Wednesday night) I was able to see an early screening of ‘Shazam!‘ and was pleasantly surprised. There was some dude with a pencil and paper getting people’s quick comments after the movie and I told him it was, “better than expected,” and that’s not because I’m some DC hater who only likes Marvel films.

It’s because I usually hate all comic book movies. It doesn’t matter who they’re affiliated with. I hate them all equally. Partly because I’m salty of how they’ve taken over Hollywood and have made it more difficult for original films to thrive, but also because I don’t connect with the characters. And almost every superhero film is at least 30 minutes too long.

Shazam! was still about 15 minutes too long, but it was extremely entertaining and really funny. I laughed out loud multiple times. It’s the funniest superhero film I’ve ever watched, and the chemistry between Zachary Levi and Jack Dylan Grazer carried the film.

There is a sequence early in the film where Levi (Shazam) and Grazer (Freddy) are trying out all the things they can do now that they carry so much power, and well, I could have watched two hours of just that.

Anyway, let’s get to the point of this article. The film hits theaters this weekend and experts believe it’ll make between $45 and $50 million, which I think is a low projection. The film is going to have insane word of mouth buzz. I mean, I’m telling you about it right now! It’s one of those movies you want to share with people.

I can see this surprising people and getting between $60 and $70 million this weekend. We’ll see what happens, and if you’re free this weekend, go watch Shazam!
