Hey, Everybody! Don’t Forget About Richard Linklater’s Latest Film ‘Everybody Wants Some!!’

If you have been following my articles (you probably haven’t) then you know I am a huge fan of almost everything Richard Linklater does. If someone on the street walked up to me with a gun and yelled, “Name a terrible movie made by Richard Linklater in less than 30 seconds or you die!” I’d probably die.

After the wild success of Boyhood, Linklater has returned with ‘Everybody Wants Some!!‘ which has been described as the spiritual sequel to Dazed and Confused. When we posted the first trailer for the film on our site a few months ago, we weren’t that impressed.

It didn’t look bad, it just didn’t look like anything special. And that was difficult for me to admit as a proud member of The Linksies, the exclusive fan club for the filmmaker. We meet every Tuesday night at random Waffle House locations across the country. We’re currently accepting applications, by the way.

After watching that first trailer, I was worried I might finally have an answer to give the deranged gunman who haunts my dreams. But I’m happy to report the film has been receiving great reviews from critics. It has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and fans who saw an early screening seemed to have enjoyed the experience.

Basically, if you’re a fan of Linklater, you probably won’t be disappointed. Everybody Wants Some will get a limited release on March 30, quickly followed by a wide release April 8. You should buy a ticket and support this movie because it’s the right thing to do. And also because you want some. Everybody wants some.

Official synopsis:

“Set in the world of 1980s college life, Everybody Wants Some is a comedy, directed and written by Richard Linklater, that follows a group of college baseball players as they navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood. Get ready for the best weekend ever.”
