Disney has developed a bad case of Live-Action Fever, and a little bit of Tylenol isn’t going to help things. According to Deadline, the studio has provided writer Peter Hedges the chance to bring a live-action Pinocchio to the big-screen.
This news comes just a week after Disney announced plans to make live-action versions of Mulan and Winnie the Pooh. And even though we are getting a little tired of hearing about all these live-action remakes, we are excited about this Pinocchio remake.
Why? Because Peter Hedges is a brilliant writer. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, About a Boy, Dan in Real Life, Pieces of April. This man knows how to write a great movie, which is probably why Disney is trusting him with bringing Pinocchio back to life.
And we know he’s going to have a little room to play around with some ideas. Sources claim this new film will be “loosely based” on the original Pinocchio.
So, when should we expect to see this film in theaters? Not for a long time. This is the seventh live-action remake Disney has announced. We know the live-action remake of The Jungle Book will hit theaters April 15, 2016.
But after that? No one knows. We will keep you posted.
