Disaster movie genius Roland Emmerich is getting ready for his next adventure, and he just convinced Halle Berry to go on it with him.
It was revealed this week that Berry would join Josh Gad in the upcoming space epic, Moonfall.
[The film] centers on a mysterious force knocking the moon from its orbit around Earth, which sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. In response, a ragtag team launches an impossible last-ditch mission into space to land on the lunar surface and save Earth from annihilation.
Sounds a little like Armageddon. Not that I’m complaining. That film is a guilty pleasure of mine. It might be incredibly stupid, but it’s also ridiculously entertaining.
Berry will play a NASA astronaut in the film and Gad will (of course) play some scientific genius, because every scientific genius has glasses and is overweight. At least in the movies.
Emmerich will direct the movie from a script he penned with his ‘2012’ co-writer Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen.
The film is set to be released in 2021 and filming is expected to begin in Canada this fall. Of course, that’s all dependent on the ongoing pandemic.
We’ll keep you posted.
