Viggo Mortensen is a great actor and a great person. He makes friends with everyone on set, treats everyone with respect…it’s hard to find negative things to say about him.

We say all this because he’s making a big career move. According to multiple reports, the 59-year-old actor is set to make his directorial debut with a film titled Falling.

It’s a intimate family drama about a son’s relationship with his ageing father. Mortensen wrote the screenplay for this flick as well, so this will be his baby.

He will also star in the movie, alongside Lance Henriksen and Sverrir Gudnason.

“Mortensen will play John Petersen who lives with his partner Eric and their adopted daughter Monica in Southern California. His father Willis (Henriksen) is a farmer whose attitudes and behavior belong to a more traditional era and family model. When Willis travels to Los Angeles for an indefinite stay with John’s family in order to search for a place to retire, the two different worlds collide.”

No word on a release date, but we will keep you posted. In the meantime, be sure to check out Mortensen’s performance in the upcoming film ‘Green Book,’ it could win some awards.
