‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Gets Its Release Date Pushed Back Eight Months

Some sad news for all you monster movie addicts out there. Warner Bros. and Legendary’s upcoming ‘Godzilla vs. King‘ film has been delayed eight months.

The movie was originally supposed to be released March 13, 2020, but it was recently revealed the new date would be November 20, 2020.

No real reason for the delay, at least not one that has been announced. Maybe they’re being selective with the release date after the disappointment of Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

King of the Monsters was released back in May of 2019 and made just $385 million worldwide, which might sound like a lot, but it costs a hefty $200 million to make.

Both ‘Godzilla’ ($524 million) and ‘Kong: Skull Island’ ($566 million) were commercial successes. Since the sci-fi spectacles have only gotten more expensive to make, it stands to reason that the studios wanted to step back and retool the franchise before unleashing it to the public.

This Godzilla vs. King flick is directed by Adam Wingard and stars Alexander Skarsgard and Millie Bobby Brown.
