Back in July of 2018, George Clooney was involved in a pretty scary motorcycle accident. He was on his way to shoot a scene for the Hulu mini-series Catch 22 when a vehicle pulled in front of his scooter and hit him directly.
Clooney claims he was going nearly 70 miles per hour when the car pulled in front of him.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney revealed he thought he was going to die…
It split my helmet in half, it knocked me out of my shoes. I was hit hard. I was just waiting for the switch to turn off because I broke his windshield with my head, and I thought, ‘OK, well, that’s my neck.’ If you get nine lives, I got all of them used up at once — so I can let go of motorcycle riding for a while.
Thankfully, he didn’t die and miraculously, he only suffered minor injuries. He was able to return to work a short time later. Clooney has joked since the crash that his wife Amal won’t let him touch another motorcycle.
And that’s probably for the best. Motorcycles aren’t for movie stars. They’re for 50-year-old dads who wish they were movie stars.
