It’s official, ‘Frozen 2‘ is now inside theaters across the country, and on Thursday night, the Disney sequel had its Thursday night opening.

It earned an impressive $8.5 million total, which is the biggest preview number since ‘Joker‘ took home $13 million in October.

Most experts predict this movie will earn at least $100 million during its opening weekend. It’s opening in over 4,400 theaters.

For those who don’t remember, the original ‘Frozen’ hit theaters back in 2013 and made $400 million in the states and over a $1 billion worldwide.

Frozen 2 sees the return of the popular characters Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel), her sister Anna (Kristen Bell), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and Olaf (Josh Gad) as they venture beyond the kingdom of Arendelle to find out why Elsa was born with magical powers. The directing team of Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee also returned along with songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

The reviews from critics have been mostly positive, but not as positive as the first film. Most agree that families will probably love the movie, but they also say it could have been better and even came across as boring at times.

You’ll be able to find out for yourself this weekend at a theater near you.
