The year of remakes/reboots/sequels continues. MGM released the first trailer for the remake of the 1987 comedy Overboard. In the original film, Goldie Hawn plays a wealthy heiress who acts terribly towards a carpenter who is working on her and her husband’s yacht. When she falls overboard and gets amnesia, the carpenter brings her back to his house and convinces her that she’s his wife and the mother of his children.
And as you can guess, after lots of arguing and hilarious horseplay, they fall in love with each other. This remake will feature a gender swap. Anna Faris will play a single, hard working mother, and Eugenio Derbez will play a wealthy playboy who gets amnesia.
“In a splashy new twist, Overboard focuses on ‘Leonardo’ (Eugenio Derbez), a selfish, spoiled, rich playboy from Mexico’s richest family and ‘Kate’ (Anna Faris), a working class single mom of three hired to clean Leonardo’s luxury yacht. After unjustly firing Kate and refusing to pay her, Leonardo falls overboard when partying too hard and wakes up on the Oregon coast with amnesia. Kate shows up at the hospital and, to get payback, convinces Leonardo he is her husband and puts him to work – for the first time in his life.”
If that sounds like something you want to watch, check out the trailer below. It’ll hit theaters April 20, 2018. I won’t judge you.
