Back in December of last year, we were one of the first sites to inform you of Bo Burnham’s upcoming coming-of-age film, Eighth Grade. The movie premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and it received a lot of love from both the general audience and critics.
We have been patiently waiting for a trailer, and we’re happy to report that the wait is now over. A24 released the first trailer for the movie, which stars Elsie Fisher as 13-year-old Kayla. We follow her during her final week of middle school.
As you can see from the trailer, this coming-of-age movie promises to be a little different than most. Burnham has explained he wanted this film to feel very real. He didn’t want to add any unnecessary/unrealistic drama because real life already has enough drama. It’s the approach Richard Linklater takes in a lot of his films, and he’s one of my favorite directors…sooooo I think I’m going to like this movie.
Eighth Grade is expected to hit theaters July 13, 2018. Check out the trailer below…
