Let’s be honest, most “first image” posts are boring. The images are not exactly unique, you know? It’s typically just a photo of the lead looking all mysterious and sh*t inside a bar.

But the first photo released from the upcoming ‘Color Out of Space‘ film is actually super cool.

The film adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s sci-fi/horror short story of the same name stars Nicolas Cage, Madeleine Arthur, Tommy Chong and Joely Richardson.

The Color Out of Space is described as a story of cosmic terror about The Gardners, a family who moves to a remote farmstead in rural New England to escape the hustle of the 21st century. They are busy adapting to their new life when a meteorite crashes into their front yard. The mysterious aerolite seems to melt into the earth, infecting both the land and the properties of space-time with a strange, otherworldly color.

I’m always down for a meteorite/space disaster film, especially if it has Cage in it.

This movie was written/directed by Richard Stanley and will premiere at the Toronto International Festival in September.

No word on a wide release date yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
