It looks like the all-female Ghostbusters film has started a trend, and all you haters out there better accept it. The Jump Street female spinoff is going to happen. There is nothing you can do about it. Well, actually there is something you can do. You can try giving this movie a chance before you decide to hate it.
According to a report from Deadline, 22 Jump Street co-writer Rodney Rothman will write (and possibly) direct this female spinoff. He’s already finished the first draft, and now he’s working with the studio to make the script perfect.
An interesting piece of information attached to this report is that Rothman also wrote the most recent draft for MIB 23, the Jump Street/Men In Black crossover project. And insiders claim that film is still in development, which is a bit surprising ’cause Jonah Hill didn’t seem all that optimistic about it.
Back in August, he told the Toronto Sun the following…
“I had the idea. But I doubt that movie will get made. It’s too complicated. They’re trying to make all the deals, but it’s kind of impossible with all the Men in Black stuff.”
We’ll see how things play out, but right now, things are looking good for the Jump Street franchise. Which spinoff are you most excited about?
