The internet has been hating on this all-female reboot of Ghostbusters since it was first announced by the studio. A majority of those people simply hated the idea because they’re afraid of women taking over the world. But there were some people who just didn’t like the idea of rebooting a classic. And then there was a small group of people who actually welcomed the idea.
Well, when the first trailer was released, all of those people came together to say, “This movie looks like sh-t,” and now it’s officially the most disliked trailer on YouTube with over 600,000 thumbs down votes.
And one of those thumbs might have been attached to Melissa McCarthy. She went on The John, Jay & Rich Show recently and revealed she thought the first trailer was extremely confusing.
“It’s a reboot not a remake. I know its weird that they say [in the trailer] ‘30 years ago’, but in this movie its like the first one didn’t happen. It’s a great story but it’s told totally differently. It’s four unlikely heroes, it’s in New York City, ghosts are taking over; it’s that same classic story but it’s not 30 years later … it’s not dependent on the first one.”
She also admitted that she brought up the issue to the studio, but she was ignored by everyone: “Believe me the question was asked. I think that it’s very confusing. But then everyone said we don’t care what you think.”
Looks like they should have listened to her. In any event, the film will hit theaters July 15, 2016. Will you be watching?
