Peter Farrelly’s last film, Green Book, somehow won Best Picture at the Oscars back in 2018/19. It was a shock to many, considering it clearly wasn’t the best film that year. In fact, it probably wasn’t even in the top five.
I’d rank The Favourite, Roma, A Star Is Born, BlacKkKlansman and even Vice above Green Book.
Anyway, Farrelly is coming off the big Oscar win, so he’s hot. Several actors were trying to land a starring role in his upcoming film, and it was Dylan O’Brien who nailed the audition.
He’s reportedly in negotiations to star in the flick, which is based on the novel, ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War’ written by Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue.
It’s based on the true story of Donohue, who left New York in 1967 to track down and share a few beers with his childhood buddies in the Army … while they were fighting in Vietnam.
Viggo Mortensen will have a supporting role in the film. Not much else is known about this project, but we will keep you posted.
Congrats to O’Brien!
