Who knew a rock would be so popular in Hollywood? Dwayne Johnson might not win any awards for his acting, but his films are making a lot of money, and that’s the only thing people in Hollywood care about.

You just recently saw him in Furious 7 and San Andreas. His TV Show Ballers just premiered on HBO last weekend to an impressive 2.2 million viewers, and he’s in the middle of production on his comedy/action film, Central Intelligence, with the hilarious Kevin Hart.

And now you can add one more film to the list. It was announced yesterday that Johnson will be teaming up with New Line again to create a film based on the classic 80’s Midway Arcade Game, Rampage. If you’re over the age of 20, and had any fun as a child, you probably remember playing this great game.

Does great game = great movie? I’m not sure. The plot details haven’t been released, but it’s safe to assume Johnson will be playing the hero. In the game, players are able to take control of giant monsters and destroy major cities across North America. It’s likely Johnson will be playing a member of the military trying to stop them.

Ryan Engle (Non-Stop) is the writer behind this project, and New Line is currently trying to fill the open directing assignment now. Production is scheduled for the summer of 2016.
