Disney is preparing to release ‘Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil‘ inside theaters on October 18.

The film, which is a sequel to the 2014 hit dark fantasy-adventure ‘Maleficent’ is expected to bring in around $50 million during its opening weekend, according to the insiders.

The first movie opened to an impressive $69 million total, which was better than expected, given the lukewarm response by critics. It ended up making $750 million globally against a budget of $180 million.

So it makes sense that Disney wanted to put out a sequel.

Joachim Rønning (‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’) directed the follow-up. Sam Riley and Lesley Manville reprised their characters, while Ed Skrein, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Harris Dickinson joined the cast.

This sequel will be up against the ‘Zombieland‘ sequel, so it should be fun to watch them battle it out. As of right now, experts say Zombieland: Double Tap should open to around $25 million, but depending on the reviews…it could be higher.
