Just in time for the holiday season, Disney (who now owns like all of Hollywood) has released the first trailer for The Nutcracker And The Four Realms, a live-action retelling of E.T.A Hoffmann’s 1816 story The Nutcracker And The Mouse King.

The film stars Morgan Freeman, Mackenzie Foy, Keira Knightley and Helen Mirren. Deadline is here to provide us with some of those delicious plot details…

“The story follows Clara (Foy) whose only wish is to get hold of a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift from her late mother. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Freeman) annual holiday party leads her to the coveted key — which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. There, Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets.

Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world.

The movie was shot in the U.K., and it’ll open there first on October 26, 2018. It’ll be released in the states one week later on November 2. Check out the trailer below…
