Budgets north of $200 million are not unheard of. Heck, almost every superhero film has a budget close to or above the $200 million mark.
But it’s extremely rare to find an original film with a budget that huge.
We found one though. According to recent reports, Christopher Nolan’s new action flick ‘Tenet‘ will cost more than $200 million to make, and that’s before you add in the marketing campaign.
Nolan is, of course, one of the few people on the planet who could command such an enormous budget for an original movie that isn’t based on a popular IP. Collider’s sources put the number at $205 million.
Nolan is no stranger to big budget films. ‘Inception‘ worked with a budget of $160 million and ‘Interstellar‘ had a similar $165 million budget.
Little is known about Tenet beyond the fact that it’s a high-stakes epic set within the world of international espionage, but given the budget, you can expect plenty of spectacle.
The film is expected to hit theaters July 17, 2020.
