You have probably heard the name Chris Columbus before. He’s the director behind projects like Home Alone, Home Alone 2, Mrs. Doubtfire and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. You know, just some of the most memorable films ever made. No big deal.
According to a report from Deadline, Columbus is going to try his hand in the horror department. He is teaming up with Blumhouse to create the screen adaptation of Scott Cawthon’s extremely popular video game Five Nights at Freddy’s, which features a security guard battling animatronic robots that come to life.
It’ll be interesting to see how much they stick to the source material here. The key to the game is to survive a night locked inside the building with these creepy a** robots. It’s basically an extremely dark version Chuck E. Cheese. Or a realistic version of Chuck E. Cheese, depending on the location of your Chuck E. Cheese.
It’s really exciting to see Blumhouse and Columbus team up. Blumhouse has taken over the horror genre, and Columbus is one of the best filmmakers alive. As Deadline reports, his credits “count more than $4.1 billion at the global box office.”
Now the question is: who will play the security guard? Jonah Hill?
