People absolutely love Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 ‘The Shining‘ adaptation. The supernatural horror film is considered to be one of the best horror movies ever made.
And this is why there is a lot of pressure on Mike Flanagan. He is the director behind the upcoming Stephen King adaptation Doctor Sleep, which is a sequel to The Shining.
Doctor Sleep, which is expected to be released November 8, 2019, stars Ewan McGregor as an adult Danny Torrence.
Doctor Sleep picks up with Danny tormented from the events of childhood. The character is an alcoholic whose supernatural shining abilities reawaken when he tries to get sober. Danny’s journey gets complicated (and scary) when he meets a young girl who shares his gifts while working at a hospice center.
Obviously it’s not going to be an easy task following a filmmaker like Stanley Kubrick; however, Flanagan is not exactly a rookie in Hollywood. He’s mastered the horror genre, most recently creating/directing the super popular Netflix series, The Haunting of Hill House.
