When it was announced that ‘Mr. Robot‘ star Rami Malek was going to play Freddie Mercury in the upcoming Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, everyone nodded their head and was like, “Yeah. That sounds right.”
Malek was born for this role and now we’re getting to check out the first photos from set.
20th Century Fox, the studio behind the biopic, released the two photos you see below on their Instagram account earlier this week. The first photo shows Malek as Mercury standing in front of a huge crowd at Wembley Stadium. The second photo shows him backstage standing next to Gwilym Lee as Brian May.
As some of you may remember, Sacha Baron Cohen was originally set to star as Mercury in the biopic back in 2011, but he ended up leaving the film in 2013. In 2016, it was revealed Bryan Singer had signed on to direct the movie and Malek would be the lead. One year after that, we learned that Singer was fired and Dexter Fletcher had been called in to replace him.
Even with all the drama going on behind the scenes, we still have faith this movie will be great, mainly because we don’t believe there is any possibly way Malek screws this up.
It’s expected to hit theaters November 2, 2018.[mashshare]
