Disney is bringing out all the stars for their latest animated adventure flick, Strange World. It was announced this week that Dennis Quaid, Gabrielle Union and Lucy Liu will showcase their voice work in the film.
They’ll be joining a cast that already includes Jake Gyllenhaal. ‘Strange World’ is being directed by Don Hall, who worked on the Big Hero 6 film, as well as the 2021 film, Raya and the Last Dragon.
Strange World follows three generations of the Clade family, legendary explorers, who arrive at a dazzling land full of mysterious phenomena – shoals of flying fish, walking rock columns, and octopus-looking monsters. Narrated in a retro visual style of ‘50s sci-fi B movies, ‘Strange World’ will have granddad Jaeger Clade voiced by Quaid.
This project has been described as a throwback tale of sorts, inspired by the works of Jules Verne and Edgar Rice Burroughs.
The full voice cast was announced at a Walt Disney Animation Studios showcase at France’s Annecy Animation Festival, which began with the award of an honorary Annecy Cristal to Jennifer Lee, WDAS chief creature officer best known as writer-director of ‘Frozen,’ which won her an Academy Award, and ‘Frozen II.’
Strange World is expected to hit theaters on November 23, just in time for the Thanksgiving box office.
Not many films earn the “NC-17” rating anymore, because most studios can’t afford to take that risk and lose out on ticket sales at the box office.
But streamers can take that risk because their success doesn’t depend on ticket sales. And that’s probably why Netflix is “okay” with the fact that their upcoming Marilyn Monroe drama, Blonde, earned the provocative rating.
Blonde stars Ana De Armas as Monroe, in what is being described as a reimagining of the life of the Hollywood icon.
[The film] boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, ‘Blonde’ blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves.
The story is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Joyce Oates. The book was released in 2000 and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
In addition Armas, this film co-stars Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, and Julian Nicholson. And by the way, the writer/director of the film, Andrew Dominik, doesn’t really give a f**k if you like it or not.
Blonde is a demanding movie. If the audience doesn’t like it, that’s the f–king audience’s problem. It’s not running for public office.
Check out the trailer below. It’s set to hit Netflix on September 23, 2022.
Are you prepared for an emotional road trip dramedy? John Cho, Mia Isaac and Kaya Scodelario star in the upcoming Amazon Prime film, Don’t Make Me Go.
The movie, which was directed by Hannah Marks, follows a father and daughter on a road trip across the country. But it’s more than just a road trip. It’s a last ride for Cho’s character.
When single father Max discovers he has a terminal disease, he decides to try and cram all the years of love and support he will miss with his teenage daughter Wally into the time he has left with her. With the promise of long-awaited driving lessons, he convinces Wally to accompany him on a road trip from California to New Orleans for his 20th college reunion, where he secretly hopes to reunite her with her mother who left them long ago.
Vera Herbert wrote the screenplay, and Herbert was a writer on ‘This Is Us‘ so you know this movie will probably make you cry.
Don’t Make Me Go had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this month. It’s scheduled to be released on Amazon Prime Video on July 15, 2022.
Back in 2016, Katie Holmes made her directorial debut with the drama film All We Had. She starred in the movie and directed it. Unfortunately, it did not receive great reviews from critics, but that’s not going to stop Holmes.
She’s back in the director’s chair with the upcoming romantic drama Alone Together. And unlike her first feature, she wrote the script for this movie, so maybe it will perform better with the critics.
She also stars alongside Jim Sturgess, Derek Luke and Melissa Leo.

The movie is expected to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival later this month. It will then enter select theaters on July 22, followed by a VOD release on July 29.
When you think Rob Zombie, you think blood and guts. The musician/filmmaker is known for making some pretty gruesome slasher flicks, but ‘The Munsters‘ will not be one of those films.
Zombie is taking a more lighthearted approach to the horror genre with his upcoming take on the beloved ’60s sitcom.
The director recently told Entertainment Weekly that he didn’t want to change the vibe found in the original show…
Yeah, it’s 100 percent in the spirit of the show. I didn’t want it to be different. I wanted to totally retain the vibe that it had in the ’60s.
The family-friendly flick stars Zombie’s wife, Sheri Moon, as Lily Munster, the matriarch of the Munster household. Jeff Daniel Phillips plays Herman, and Daniel Roebuck will be taking the Grandpa role.
Zombie said he based casting on certified chemistry…
I wanted to cast people that had worked together a lot. I couldn’t risk getting on set in Budapest and going, my leads aren’t getting along, they have no chemistry. So that’s why I chose the cast I chose. Jeff Daniel Phillips and Sheri Moon Zombie and Daniel Roebuck, they work together a lot and I knew they would just fall right into it.
The Munsters is set to be released this fall. No word on an exact release date, but we’ll keep you posted. Check out the teaser below…
Well, the third and final trailer for Jordan Peele’s upcoming horror-thriller, Nope, was released by Universal Studios this week. And unlike the two previous trailers, this one actually reveals the film’s plot.
So if you want to go in with little to no information, we suggest clicking away from this article.
We knew the film, which stars Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer had something to do with a ranch and aliens, but now we know what Palmer and Kaluuya’s characters are up to.
Thanks to the aliens hovering above their ranch, they hatch a scheme to capture and sell the first authentic footage of UFOs.
As with his previous films, Peele wrote and directed this flick. In addition to Palmer and Kaluuya, this movie co-stars Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira and Brandon Perea.
If this third and final trailer is anything to go by, it looks like this movie might be a little more comedic/light than ‘Us’ and ‘Get Out’ but you never really know with Peele. He likes to switch on you fast.
‘Nope’ is expected to hit a theater near you on July 22, 2022. Check out the final trailer below…
‘The Hunger Games’ are back baby! Lionsgate just released a teaser trailer for the upcoming prequel film, The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes.
A teaser for the highly anticipated film was originally released at CinemaCon a little over a month ago, but now the studio is releasing it to everyone online. Admittedly, the teaser trailer doesn’t really show you much of anything, but hey, it’s enough to get us excited.
Collins’ Songbirds and Snakes, the prequel to the Hunger Games trilogy published in 2020, finds 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow as the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor.
According to the studio, this movie will hit theaters on November 17, 2023, which makes sense, considering the previous films were also released around the Thanksgiving holiday.
Tom Blyth plays Snow in the movie, and Rachel Zegler co-stars as Lucy Gray Baird. Francis Lawrence, the director of Mockingjay Part 1 and 2, has returned to direct this prequel.
Executive produced by Martin Scorsese, the coming-of-age film ‘Murina‘ is set to make its debut in the states on July 8 in select theaters.
The movie won the Camera d’Or (Golden Camera) award at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
Murina, which translates to eel, takes place along Croatia’s Adriatic coast and hones in on 17-year-old diver and eel fisherwoman Julija (Gracija Filipović) as she grapples with her suffocating father Ante (Leon Lucev) and stifled mother Nela (Danica Curcic). When wealthy family friend Javier (Cliff Curtis) comes to town for a business investment, Julija sees a way out — no matter the costs.
Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović directed the movie, and as mentioned abiove, Scorsese liked the film so much he jumped on board as an executive producer.
‘Murina’ also premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it received mostly positive reviews. It seems like a lot of critics were amazed by just how beautiful the film looks on screen.
As mentioned above, ‘Murina’ will open in select theaters on July 8, 2022. Check out the trailer below…
One of the best movies of the year? It’s possible. Searchlight Pictures released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming horror-comedy film, The Menu, starring Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult.
The movie was directed by Mark Mylod, who has directed several episodes of the hit tv show, Succession.
The Menu features Taylor-Joy and Hoult as a couple traveling to an island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where Chef Slowik (Fiennes) has prepared an eccentric menu with some truly shocking surprises.
The teaser trailer does a good job of not spoiling too much, but if you want to go in completely free, maybe you’ll want to skip it completely.
Trust me when I tell you this is a film to watch. It’s scheduled to be released on November 18, 2022, and it’s possible Fiennes lands an Oscar nomination for his performance.
Disney is going small for their upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s classic ‘Pinocchio’ story. The live-action version of the 1940 animated film is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+, which means a theatrical release will not be happening.
According to the reports, the movie will hit the streaming service on September 8, 2022. The movie stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto.
Robert Zemeckis directs the wood carver who builds and treats Pinocchio (Ainsworth) as if he were his own son. Gordon-Levitt voices Jiminy Cricket, who serves as Pinocchio’s guide as well as his ‘conscience’; Erivo is the Blue Fairy; Key is ‘Honest’ John; Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character; and Luke Evans is The Coachman.
Disney previously released a teaser trailer for the film, which you can check out below. You have to wonder if this movie hasn’t been testing well.
In addition to this live-action Pinocchio, Disney is set to release a live-action Little Mermaid in 2023 and a live-action Peter Pan story.
